Woman’s Exchange

There’s an old Z Gallerie laminate end table in my living room that desperately needs to be replaced. I bought it years ago without regard to style or color and I can’t stand it. It needs to go. But where to look? The Woman’s Exchange, of course!

This 12,000 sq foot, non-profit consignment shop at 539 South Orange in Sarasota, has a large selection of furniture and sometimes, if you’re especially lucky, nice mid-century pieces

Woman’s Exchange was started in 1962 and has been a major supporter of the arts communities in Sarasota and Manatee counties. They’ve awarded over $7m in grants and scholarships in their 50 year history. With $330,000 of that going to 27 arts organizations and 49 students in 2012.

Their inventory changes regularly and includes women’s clothing, jewelry, crystal, china and silver. They also stock art, linens, oriental rugs and furniture. Items are clean and in good condition.

Consigners get 65% of the sales price at this consignment shop and have the option of donating their profits to any of the participating charities on the Woman’s Exchange list. Everybody wins at WEX!

I didn’t find an end table that day, but I’m planning to check back in a week or so. You just never know what might show up.
