Sarasota Architectural Foundation is a great resource for those who love modern house tours. They always have something going on. Their latest tour took place on Sunday, February 22 at 413 South Blvd. of Presidents, Lido Key. The house was for sale and listing agent Nora Johnson was gracious enough to cohost the event with SAF. Thanks Nora!
Architect Michael Halfants was on hand to talk about the award winning addition/renovation project his firm Halflants + Pichette completed a couple of years ago. According to Michael, the main goal of the project was to open up the house to the outdoors, allow easy access to the water and maximize views of Sarasota Bay – all classic elements of Sarasota modern.
Nothing was left to chance. Every design detail was deliberate: visual clutter that interfered with sight lines was removed, each opening was carefully framed to maximize views, ceiling heights were varied to create a feeling of spaciousness and a new roof was added over the patio to manage sunlight and airflow. It’s quite nice.
Yep. The LaBarge party boat likes SAF house tours too!
