Home construction is in full swing at Granada Park – the small gated community West of Trail off of Bay Road. MGB Custom Homes is the exclusive builder for the development and their guys are busy moving dirt around and laying foundations.
MGB is building fifteen semi-custom homes in this maintenance-free community and already have sales contracts on two. I met with MGB co-founder (and good friend) Steve Ellis at the completed ‘Hibiscus’ model to take some pictures and get a look around.
Now normally I’m all about midcentury modern, Sarasota School of Architecture modern and boxy-all-white modern. But I love the style of this house too, which Steve refers to as Coastal Craftsman. It’s the Coastal part of Craftsman that sends my heart aflutter because coastal usually leans modern. I think this house offers a nice mix of both.
The Craftsman design is visible in the gabled roof, architectural pillars, decorative railings, porches and Prairie-style windows. Modern touches include an open floor plan, plenty of natural light, high ceilings, Quartz counters and bright white walls.
I’m also quite crazy about the interior design which was is sophisticated yet casual and sports a beachy color palette. Steve staged the house with furnishings from European Traditions and Blackbird Gallery. Melaine Ann Denicourt of Indigo West provided styling, decorations and soft goods. I’ll take one of everything please.
The two story Hibiscus home plan has three bedrooms, a bonus room and three and a half baths. Total square footage comes in at 3,071 but jumps to 3,576 with the addition of the optional outdoor great room which sits above the garage… which is a-maz-ing! This model is loaded with fabulous high-end finishes, green-features and smart technology.
